6 Pack Abs by Age 50 – Results from Week 3

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” – Calvin Coolage

As I type this blog today, I sit here after just finishing my Saturday workout, and my muscles are already getting tight and sore, my shoulders hurt, my knees are a little sore, I am hungry for something sweet and fattening, and IT FEELS GREAT!  3 weeks down, 10 to go!

The quote by Calvin Coolage above tells the story.

  • I am not the most talented…
  • Me – a genius?  LOL!  Not even close…
  • My brain lacks large quantities of education…

My guess is that your life might just reflect some of those same characteristics…or the lack of them.

Fact is, neither you or I need to be any of those things.  They are not the determining factors for achievement or success.  The all powerful characteristics of success are persistence and determination – no matter the cause, objective, goal, or dream.  And these are not inborn.

They are not in your genes.  You don’t have to be the product of great education, genes, environment, or talent.

Nope.

You can manufacture persistence and determination to accomplish anything.  They come from within – you and I can generate as much as we need to press on toward anything we want to do, have or be.

How?

Decide what you want and go get it.  Decide where you want to go and take the first step, the second step, third step, fourth…and on you go!  Don’t let distractions detract you.  Don’t let obstacles get in your way.  Decide.  That’s how you start. Decide. That’s how you press on. Decide. That’s how you finish – achieve – succeed!

So, press on!  Stay focused on the dreams inside you.  Never give up.  Decide, then decide again.  One good decision leads to another, and to another.  Momentum builds and suddenly you don’t even recognize your life.

And you have to pinch yourself.

I’ll be pinching myself in September because I have made a decision.  It may seem a bit base, and shallow to most, but this one decision will lead to success in one area of my life.  Leading to another, then another.  It can be the same for you too.

So take the challenge – make a decision to get healthier.  Don’t make excuses – make a decision!  Do it now!

Results of Week 3 – 6 by 50 – Six Pack Abs by Age 50

I lost another 2 lbs and here are the measurements:

  • Belly – 38 3/4″
  • Thigh – 25 1/4″
  • Chest – 41 3/4″
  • Upper Arm – 15 1/8″

188 lbs on June 21 – 2 more lbs gone!

Please notice the measurements above too.  It’s one thing to lose weight, but quite another to gain muscle at the same time!  I have added a 1/4 inch on my thigh, and a 1/4 inch on my arm, and SUBTRACTED another 1/2 inch from my belly!

Exciting stuff!

Stay in touch – I’ll keep you posted on my progress, challenges, and the plan itself.

Blessings,

Jerry
